My wife went to work quite early this morning, and around 7am my kid, 3.5 years old, got up, went to the toilet, and came into bed with me. At that point, usually he is not going to sleep anymore. However, he will insist on laying in bed, wildly squiggling around at random intervals while trying to find a comfortable position, which he will not be able to find until the adult next to him is full of bruises. The bed is 1.80m wide, biggest one IKEA had, yet he has to lay as close to the adult as he can get. It’s cosy as hell and I do enjoy this, but the squiggling involves getting accidental kicks and punches a lot, which gets old pretty quick.

Here’s what i did this morning. I started talking to him quietly, and slowly. I asked him about nice things, what kind of nice things he liked. He happened to mention grandma and grandpa, and his two aunts, who are 8 and 10 years old. I explained that he could use something we call imagination to sorta, see them. I was still using my soft, and slightly slow voice. I explained that if you close your eyes, and think about them hard enough, it’s almost like seeing them. I encouraged him to try this, and started asking questions about what he saw, asked for details, and asked him how he felt about this. The next thing I know we both woke up and it was 9am. I am going to try again on the next opportunity.

Update:
The next opportunity was the day after, yesterday, a sunday. It worked again! This time actually, i woke up and he was still sleeping. I was the one getting impatient, rolling around, and he woke up from my activity. I felt that we had slept quite long, i figured 9.30 or something. When I checked the time I was baffled: It was quarter to eleven. Great success!

I normally oppose to unselectively inviting all friends to something on facebook, but on the rare occasion, there is something that is both applicable and beneficial to all your friends, such as Nick’s day, for example. So how do you invite all your friends to Nick’s day without having to click each one? Javascript is the answer. Here’s my five step program:

1. First, you find the event or page so vital that you need to invite everyone to. In this example we use Nick’s Day. The facebook search box at the top right is very handy for this.

2. On the event page, you click the link called “Invite people to come”, which is underneath the picture.

3. Now you get the invite your friends page up:

4. Instead of clicking them one by one, you paste this piece of javascript in your browser’s address bar:

javascript:elms=document.getElementById(‘friends’).getElementsByTagName(‘li’);for(var fid in elms){if(typeof elms[fid] === ‘object’){fs.click(elms[fid]);}}

Press the enter key on your keyboard, and watch how magically all your friends are selected.

5. Now, simply add a personal message if you must, and hit the Send Invitations button:

That’s it!

Note: Whoohoonick has a page on facebook that you can become a fan of, there is a box on the left side of this page. I do not encourage inviting all your friends to my page, instead please consider a few friends that you think might like the sort of thing we do here. I do however encourage anyone to invite all your friends to Nick’s day using any method.

I will from now on not make blogposts anymore for everything she sents me, merely because these are definately automated emails. They will still be posted at the usual spot though.

With Valentine’s day on February 14, and steak and BJ day on March 14, we are swamped with giving and receiving presents, and generally having to be considerate for pretty much the entire season.

Valentine’s day is the day where the men purchase an overprized gift for their lover which they will look at once and then never again, and steak and BJ is the holiday where women show their appreciation for men, if you are lucky.

I bet you can see what is missing here. Time for yourself! A Google query on “time for yourself” brings up a load of self-help guides on how to plan time for yourself, and how to get the most out of it. The need for time for yourself is high, and we need a solution.

I Propose one day in the middle of these two hectic holidays. February 28 is exactly in the middle, and is from now on known as Nick’s day. Not Nick day, that would be a day celebrating me, and although I would appreciate that and can be quite arrogant from time to time, I am not arrogant enough yet to claim a day where everyone celebrates me. You all know damn well when my birthday is, and you all know about the wishlist on my blog as well. But I digress.

February 28th, Nick’s Day, is the day where everyone celebrates themselves, no matter whether you are single or in a good relationship. It’s where you:

contemplate about how awesome you are.

give yourself a good hug.

take yourself to dinner and/or a movie.

open the present you bought for yourself a few days before, and think about how much you appreciate yourself for giving you exactly what you wanted.

throw yourself a surprise party with you as the only guest.

reflect on how long you have been with yourself and how much you are looking forward to spend the rest of your life with yourself.

send love letters to yourself.

So mark this important day on your calendars, and tell everyone about this exciting day! We are making history here.

Don’t forget to join the event on facebook, and invite all your friends!

There’s also an official pamphlet you can print out and stick on the walls!

Peter Popoff is one of the famous con artists. He is a self proclaimed reverend, a faith healer, and his fraud was exposed by James Randi and Steve Shaw in the eighties, upon which Popoff went bankrupt. However, people are gullible and forgetful, and Peter Popoff is back, at large.

Popoff will send you free miracle tap water if you fill out a form on his website. The form has a "prayer" field which doesn’t show what you type in it. I suspect he is trying to make you think only God can read this prayer. Taking a closer look I discovered that he is simply using white text on a white background, which means he does get the info you write there. You can see it too, if you simply select the text your browser will show it.

As an experiment, I ordered Peter Popoff’s free miracle springwater. In the prayer field, I entered something along the lines of "I need a bunch of money to get out of debt". The result was letters that were adjusted to this "prayer" with hot reading skills. I posted the letters and more info under projects. Direct link here:

So you take a drop of “active ingredient”, mix it with all the water in the universe plus a bit more, take a tiny sample into a bottle and what do you get? Just water with no molecules left of the active ingredient. This is the simplest chemistry expiriment you can imagine.

Homeopaths however, claim that water has a “Memory effect” which gets more effect the more dilute it. Homeopath is the term for people selling and producing this water, but the term homeopaths doesn’t include the people that believe in this and use this. We need a name that includes all parties that believe in homeopathy. I propose we call them Chemistry-deniers*.

So, Boots apparently sells homeopathic products, and The Merseyside Skeptic Society is not amused. They bring up the point that Boots as a pharmacist has the responsibility to sell medicine that actually works. No miracle waters, no prayers, no chemistry-deniers products.

In order to proof this point they launched the 10:23 event, which means that next saturday the 30th of January 2010 over 300 of them will take an entire bottle of chemistry-denier pills, just to proof that it has no effect whatsoever, as this “overdose” would hurt them if it would be actual medicine.

If you want to join or just show some interest, check out http://www.1023.org.uk and don’t forget to sign their open letter to Allience Boots. Unless you are a chemistry denier of course, then you can spend this beautiful weekend by solving one drop of beer in a bathtub of water and trying to get drunk.

* Props to Richard Dawkins for coining the term “History-Deniers” for creationists in his book “The Greatest Show On Earth”, which inspired me to use the term Chemistry Deniers for this.

First read: Astrology: I am testing psyhich Jenna. If you haven’t yet. Go on!

Welcome back, and thanks for joining me in this exciting experiment. Yesterday I received my reading, and I got to say, I am surprised. You see, you can divide astrologers into two groups, and this counts for psyhics too, lucky seeing how she is both. The two groups are, the ones that believe in what they do, and the ones that don’t but do it anyway for the money. Until I read Jenna’s reading, I wasn’t aware that there was a third group, which Jenna belongs to. Scam artists. You could argue that the ones that do not believe it and do it for the money would be scam artists, which is true. But as far as I was aware, their focus is to apply cold reading to help gullible people, and then they take some bucks in the process.

Jenna is nothing like that. It’s simply not her style. Her style you see, is to give you a reading designed to get you all excited about a bunch of money that is coming your way. You’ll get lots of opportunities for this money. In order to know the details of these opportunities, you need to purchase an additional reading for $60.

You can read the entire reading here:

http://whoohoonick.com/projects/psychicjenna.php

That’s also the page I will be using for posting updates, if there are any.

So as I was playing Alien Adoption Agency, which is actually called A3:The Awakening, but I still call it Alien Adoption Agency because that is what it was called when I signed up, I was presented with this banner, that i had not seen before:

I figured that while we wait for peter popoff’s holy water, I could run another little expiriment and get my free reading just so that I can be another person to show how much bollocks this all is. So I clicked the banner, which linked to this page. The interesting part is here:

A bunch of bullet points that are supposed to convince you that she is the shit. Let’s go trough them, shall we.

Fifteen years of practicing pseudo-science, not impressive.

Professional, which means she makes enough on this scam not to need a real job.

Anyone can write a book, or six for that matter.

8,500 testimonials? Easy, you write horoscopes for every starsign, and make everyone that reads their starsign write a testimonial.

Lots of stars are also nutjobs, point in case: Kanye West. Although I have no reason to believe Kanye sees her.

So her parents and grandparents were also freaky

Internet, not impressive, te

Now what does that mean exactly?

Does not mean shit.

Impossible claim that we are proving wrong with this experiment, just you wait.

People are gullible

How exactly is this different from other psychics and astrologers?

So she’s a people person, and at last:

So she’s a people person.

So i signed up. Had to give my first name, gender, my email, and date of birth. For some reason she requests marital status and work status as we, so far not impressed with the psychic part.

After clicking submit I was presented with another form asking me to confirm my email. Not the kind where you get an email with a link to click, but the kind where you fill in your email one more time. And then, she let me fill in my email another time. Yes, she needs it three times. Not very psychic of her. Anyway eventually i got the confirmation:

Wow! I thought I was signing up with a clearvoyant psychic astrologer but now she turns out to be a tarot card reader as well, and also a numerologist! I wonder if she does dowsing too.

The site also has some terms and conditions, I will cite a few things from there that illustrate how confident she is in her so-claimed “100% accuracy”:

Use of this Web site is for entertainment purposes only and does not substitute for any legal, financial or medical advice.

Lastly, I had to do some research on this fraud and googled “astrologer jenna” and found some dirt indeed. Link after link after link, my face lighted up from all these wonderful words: Scams, Scandals, exposed, complaints, rip offs, it went on and on. There is only one link on the first page of the search results, and that is that on her own site. I checked out the top link and hilarity ensued:

Google placed a relevant banner at the top based on the content!

Bestest screenshot ever. I’ll be posting an update as soon as I get my reading.

Update: I received my first email back:

Hello Nick,

I am Jenna, your professional astrologer. I’ve received the form you sent me and I’ll get to work on your free reading now. You should receive it tomorrow morning or the day after at the very latest. I will send you an email from this email address and you’ll find my email in your inbox with the subject line:

“Nick, this is the Astrological Reading you requested”

So don’t forget to check your email from time to time.
You’ll hear from me soon, have a great day.
Jenna

Back in 2005, I had an horrific encounter with Paypal customer support. I used to have the emails posted on my website, but the truth is: Later I discovered that I actually was just looking at the wrong codes on my credit card. Paypal has been working fine for me since, and I have been using it happily for years now. I have been dealing with their support department for other issues as well, and they have been quite helpful indeed, nothing like the stone wall I received in 2005.

The article I wrote back then however, is still occasionally pulling in traffic, which is why i had to write this little post. Now I can redirect the link of the original paypal article to this post, so that anyone that tries to find it via Google or whatever lands safely here. For the time being, the original article is still here but it is planned for removal.

Dear Pat Robertson,

I know that you know that all press is good press, so I appreciate the shout-out. And you make God look like a big mean bully who kicks people when they are down, so I’m all over that action.

But when you say that Haiti has made a pact with me, it is totally humiliating. I may be evil incarnate, but I’m no welcher. The way you put it, making a deal with me leaves folks desperate and impoverished.

Sure, in the afterlife, but when I strike bargains with people, they first get something here on earth — glamour, beauty, talent, wealth, fame, glory, a golden fiddle. Those Haitians have nothing, and I mean nothing. And that was before the earthquake. Haven’t you seen "Crossroads"? Or "Damn Yankees"?

If I had a thing going with Haiti, there’d be lots of banks, skyscrapers, SUVs, exclusive night clubs, Botox — that kind of thing. An 80 percent poverty rate is so not my style. Nothing against it — I’m just saying: Not how I roll.

You’re doing great work, Pat, and I don’t want to clip your wings — just, come on, you’re making me look bad. And not the good kind of bad. Keep blaming God. That’s working. But leave me out of it, please. Or we may need to renegotiate your own contract.

Best, Satan

At a certain point in time, facebook changed their status message interface to this:

I can not even remember what the old interface looked like, and even when i look at the screenshot I googled, it does not look familiar, but here it is:

For us who grew up with that box, i think it even said “Share” rather then “Post” originally, the function of this box is very clear. But think of those that join facebook today.

The piont? Let’s create a fictional example. Let’s call him Peter. Peter has received facebook invitations in the past in his email, and ignored them as you should do with emails about things you are unfamiliar with. However, now facebook has been in the news on and off for quite some time, Peter knows it is this thing where you create a profile and post pictures and connect with your friends, and he decided to finally sign up after receiving another invitation in his email from his mother.

So he goes trough the signup process, confirms his email, logs in with his username and password, which gives him the feeling that he is in a secure environment only meant for him, and he gets presented with the facebook interface.

“What’s on your mind?” it says. Now, how is Peter supposed to know what this box does? How is he supposed to know that all his facebook friends can, and are supposed to, read whatever he puts in that box? He wouldn’t know.

He could write things like “Damn, i need to poop real bad”, or “that new intern has real nice tits”. Or even worse things like “I am looking forward to sleeping with my wife’s sister again tonight” or “I hope my lawyer will have the divorce papers ready today.”

What would happen if anyone would be able to know what really was on anyone else’s mind? If anyone would know anyone else’s true intentions? If your family would know how you really feel about them?

Society as we know it, would collapse. And with this status box, facebook is taking one step in the direction of making society collapse. What can we do to avoid this? Well, nobody is going to listen unless we show some proof that this is a problem.

So your homework assignment will be to think about which persons you know, that fit Peter’s description. Make sure they have a slight idea of what facebook is, mention it at a party or simply forward some news articles. Even leave a newspaper open subtly on the kitchen table if you must. Then after this softening-up process, send them the magic bullet of a facebook invitation. Make sure your profile picture is something they associate you with, to give them the nice and safe feeling. Then, get ready to take screenshots of what is really on their mind, and store them in a safe place. Send me copies for backup purposes. Good luck.

Anyway, more WTF appeared in my inbox.

A friend invite for youtube. Not too weird yet, but it was in German. SchiThug2CE möchte mich auf YouTube als Freund hinzufügen. Yeah.

So I went and checked it out, and this guy had one video, which was even more wtf:

SauberZwerg, which is german for Clean-Gnome. It’s a pun for the common used zauberzwerg, which means magic gnome. The movie features Longi and the stain devil, and it’s all very wtf. Not blogworthy if it wasn’t something that tops my day of WTF today, but here we are.

Amazon says:

The unlikeliest cult hit of 2004 was What the (Bleep) Do We Know?, a lecture on mysticism and science mixed into a sort-of narrative. Marlee Matlin stars in the dramatic thread, about a sourpuss photographer who begins to question her perceptions. Interviews with quantum physics experts and New Age authors are cut into this story, offering a vaguely convincing (and certainly mind-provoking) theory about… well, actually, it sounds a lot like the Power of Positive Thinking, when you get down to it. Talking heads (not identified until film’s end) include JZ Knight, who appears in the movie channeling Ramtha, the ancient sage she claims communicates through her (other speakers are also associated with Knight’s organization). What she says actually makes pretty good common sense–Ramtha’s wiggier notions are not included–and would be easy to accept were it not being credited to a 35,000-year-old mystic from Atlantis. –Robert Horton

It worked on mice, so it should work on us too. This is great news, now we can truly eat as much candy as we want, i suppose. I can’t wait until they figure out how to simply grow new lungs, one at a time, so that the smokers can relax too. And how about livers! Stem cell research is so awesome.

Fred Phelps tries to get across an extremely weak point by using quotes from the fiction series “the old testament” and its sequel “the new testament”(both books so insignificant that i wasn’t able to find an ISBN number for them), as well as some colorful words like Slut and Whore. Furthermore he encourages people to picket at Lady Gaga’s upcoming gig at the fox Theatre in St. Louis on January 9th 2010, get your tickets here.

Anyway, in a hypothetical situation where there would be a god, who would they show a bigger dislike to? A hardworking talent full artist like lady gaga, or an hateful old guy that goes around encouraging people to express hate in “His” name? It’s not only lady gaga, this guy is responsible for massive amounts of propaganda against homosexuals, Jews, movies, Obama, even priests, and oh what the hell: the world in general.

I can see how Fred Phelps can be intimidated by lady Gaga, as her stage act (right picture) can have quite the scary theme to it sometimes, but who is he to speak? I mean look at him(left picture), to him the scary comes completely natural.

Guilty, I admit. I am one of those people that saves money backwards.

Let me explain. Normally, one would put a certain amount of money aside each month, sometimes a fixed amount, or sometimes just whatever is not used. This goes either into a bank account or cash into an old sock under the mattress or some other nifty hiding place. Then, over time, a larger amount of money will simply pile up, which you then can spend on something you’ll regret spending that much money on later.

Backward saving is where you make your regrettable purchases first, using loans and credit cards, and then set aside money each month to pay back the debts. After paying back only half the debt, you can take out this half again, and spend it on something else that is completely useless, all while paying the provider of the loan interests, as well as fees for being allowed to have a loan, fees for being allowed to pay them back, and fees for being allowed to use their card to take out money. All these fees need to be calculated by them, which is a reason for another type of fee.

When one has enough of these debt loan things, one can consider Debt Consolidation. This basically means that you take up a loan, to pay back the other loans you have taken. So you pay back all your loans at once, with all the fees and interest rates and everything, and then you are done with those. Instead, you have a new loan with new fees and interest rates, and you can start using your credit cards again happily while paying off the mother of loans.

Yes. Gambling PhD. www.gamblingphd.com, to be exact. PhD of course stands for Doctor of Philosophy, for the Latin philosophiæ doctor, which means teacher of philosophy.

So, judging by the name, they have the highest degree possible on Gambling. Interesting.

If, however, you were to compare this to any type of academic degree, you would fail horribly. Seeing as how gambling PhD is a poorly made website by obviously technically illiterate people, serving the single purpose of exploiting the weakness of the masses, e.g. gambling. If this was indeed the opium of the masses, as a wise man said religion was, I have no doubt that Gambling PhD would be able to pay a far more reputable company to write its praises. They however are not, and neither am I.

So gambling PhD, you get what you came for. Gambling. Not a PhD.

We’ve seen plenty of these sites reviewed here on Whoohoonick, this is nothing special. You got your old top fifteen of gambling sites, the banners, the disclaimers, the advice, everything. The difference here is though, that the makes of the site do this since 2001(which is 8 years of internet time, which translate to like 50 years of normal time) and that they write from their own experience, so they claim. I dunno. I guess I am just upset by the blasphemous use of the term PhD.

Metal spinning is a way of forming metal into desired shapes. You start off with a “blank”, which is basically a cylindrical piece of metal, which you mount into the metal spinning machine, by clamping it between two spinning parts, or into a chuck. The machine then rotates the piece at high speed, on which a tool can cut away parts until the desired shape is achieved. Another way of metal spinning is when the blank is simply a metal disk, which then bends into the desired shape, rather then cutting away things.

That’s pretty great, but not awesome yet. The awesome part is where the CNC comes in. CNC is for Computer Numerical Control, which basically means that you can write some code, which then controls the spinning and the tool that shapes the metal. You can run the program as often as you like to create an identical product each time, which is of course great for industrial applications as there is very little manual labor needed.

From reddit:
Every time I run out of ink, I just buy a new printer.

Come on people, the printer manufacturers are have a tough financial period just like the rest of the world. If this is what they need to do to stay alive and keep providing jobs to people, then i’ll gladly stock up on crappy printers rather then replacing ink cardridges to support it.

Beggers can’t be choosers; If the best price is all you can pay, you get to stock up on printers. If you are rich folks, you pay the price for a high quality printer, with expensive ink cardriges.

But there is an alternative. Now that you are aware of this and do not wish to stock up on printers for whatever reason, there is such a thing as pricechecking. Not all cardridges from all manufacturers are expensive. You can go to your retailer, check which ink has a good price on it, and then buy a printer that goes with it, so that you will not have any unpleasant surprises next time you need ink. When you show this kind of buying behaviour, the manufacturers will notice it and adjust their production to it, and eventually their prices.

However if you buy a new printer because it’s cheaper, the manufacturer will adjust their prices and production for that, and printers will be cheaper, and ink will be more expensive, so that more people will have to switch for buying a new printer rather then ink refills. The ink might even get unavailable if the demand for it gets too low.

If more people would pricecheck, this problem might not have gotten out of hand like this.

So a bunch of people travel to the county Mayo pilgrimage shrine of Knock, because they had been informed that the virgin Mary would appear there. Once there, some of them turn out to be stupid and start staring at the sun, space out and see the sun dancing in front of them, kind of like an acid trip. Ignorance is bliss. Bliss, until you damage your eye’s macula, which is part of the retina, which is the tissue on the inside of your eye. The tissue which translates the light into nerve impulses, which get sent to the visual centers of the brain. The macula is what commonly is referred to as “the yellow spot”.

No matter how often you tell people not to stare at the sun however, they instantly forget it as long as you promise them virgin Mary fireworks.

A few years ago, something happened that some of us noticed immediately, others only when the media started using it a filler for whenever there was no real news, while yet again others will be in denial forever. But the fact is: The worlds economy went down the drain. Some people dealt with this better then others, but the ones showing the most creativity in problem solving, must have been the world’s doctors. They had an infallable plan. They invented a fictional flu, simular to the flu we already had for centuries, only this one requires a special type of vaccine, which essentially costs you a doctor’s visit. Whethee youe government funds these or whether you are screwed does not matter for the doctor, this swine flu deal is money directly into their pocket. The media, the pharmaceutical companies, and everyone involved has this swine flu thing to make some extra bucks on. Brilliant.

Hope you enjoy it.nbsp; As usual, the mp3 is to demonstrate the concept, I am not proud of the recording quality, nor of my sloppy playing.</itunes:summary>

My colleagues response was to make fun of me for being 25% german.

I’ve always been fascinated with physics, and pneumatic systems are no exception. It’s just a great way to power machines, as it’s way more graceful then electricity, and way cleaner then hydrolic systems. Why it’s better then combustion-engine powered systems I don’t even have to explain. Okay, so in order to get air to power your pneumatic machine you need a compressor, which requires either electricity or a combustion-engine to work but on the other hand, one bigass compressor can power a whole bunch of machines. Pneumatics are great. At the university of Michigan they even created an 8-bit microprocessor that works on pneumatics.

How does it all work? Well first you need a compressor. This machine basically sucks in air(the same air we breathe) and compresses it, usually by putting it straight into a tank. So then you have a bunch of compressed air in a tank. This is kind of like a spraycan, the volume of the air is less then the volume it is naturally, therefore it will come out if you open up a tiny hole in the spraycan, by pushing on the nozzle. Instead of a nozzle like a spraycan, the airtank connected to the compressor just goes into a tube or hose that go to the machine, or machines. If you have a building full of them, you might even have an entire network of tubes around the place, with air outlets on several spots to connect machines to.

And then? Valves. A valve is basically a mechanism that directs air to one or more places, blocks it, or just sets the air free again. The official term is exhausting, but I prefer setting free. There are many kinds of these industrial valves, such as control valves, ball valves, spring valves, and so on. Each valve has its own function, some of them just to pass air through in one direction, while not allowing it to flow in the opposite direction. Other valves will open and close the airflow for some ports, depending on whether other ports on the valve have air pressure on them. This allows you to use an actual button to apply air pressure to said port, which opens the valve and starts for example a motor. The possibilities are endless. Apart from fancy buttons with fancy valves, you can also simply open and close the airflow using ball valves. A ball valve is basically a ball with holes and a handle. The handle allows you to turn the holes in front of the ports or away from them, allowing air to pass through, or blocking it.

For more information on specific types of valves, I highly recommend these valve articles. Careful though, the concept is addicting, and before you know you’ll be sketching complicated pneumatic systems.

Urinal protocol vulnerability

An interesting article on Urinal etiquette, and why it is important to have exactly the right number of urinals otherwise it will fuck up the system. But that’s only before it jumps into giant formulas and graphs. Linky:
http://blag.xkcd.com/2009/09/02/urinal-protocol-vulnerability/

Worst websites of 2008

Vincent Flanders has been pointing out websites that suck for fourteen years now, and also gives some handy tips on how to not make your website suck. The top ten of worst websites of 2008 is over here:
http://www.webpagesthatsuck.com/worst-web-sites-of-2008.html
I feel a little sceptic about linking to him, he might notice the traffic and add me. Whoops.

Driving your neighbour lady nuts

Anyone that knows me well, is aware that I have a passion for saying/doing things that just confuse people. However, I am nothing compared to this guy:
http://www.poormojo.org/pmjadaily/archives/028537.php
If only the guy had known about this website:
http://www.swapaskill.com/
But even then, I did a search for the skills he was looking for, without luck.

Dealing with negative people

This was quite an interesting read. I am fascinated by the bollocks some people experience – I mean, to them it is not bollocks, I do believe that they genuinely experience it, there’s just a more logical explanation for it. I was especially facinated by the energy shield.
http://celestinechua.com/blog/2009/06/dealing-with-energy-vampires/

How to become a better husband
The daily mind gives some useful tips on how to become a better husband – partially by advicing the exact opposite of what their father did. Which makes me worried about the fact that “no hitting” is mentioned twice. I totally agree with everything in the article, which doesn’t happen with much articles.
http://www.thedailymind.com/how-to/how-to-become-a-better-husband-boyfriend-or-life-partner/

They are back they are, with their list of the ten bestest webhosts. The list has changed from previous time though, bluehost apparantly got their act together and moved from number five to number 3, taking over from fatcow, which has magiccally disappeared from the list! They are not out of business or anything, so I wonder what happened there.

Apart from the the site appears to be pretty much the same as it was last time, when I did a review on them back in April. They do have a handy search function which allows you to search for hosts with specific features like how much disk space, how many ftp / email / subdomains and so forth, as well as which price range. Also you can look for specific features like whether it supports PHP, SSH, Javascript, you can search for pretty much anything except the name – so If you would like to see how your favourite host is ranking in their system you wouldn’t be able to do so using their search. Apart from the search they offer some handy categories as well, such as windows hosting, linux hosting, mysql host, but also some curious ones like UK hosting or Adult hosting. I don’t really see how UK hosting would be relevant for their quality at all, nor do I figure a company specializing in adult hosting would be better at it then a regular webhost which is OK with adult hosting.

If you click adult hosting however, you get a new top ten for adult hosting, where fatcow is suddenly third again.

When I look back at the review I did for these guys back in April, I was surprised by what I wrote about Godaddy. It says that I read the review on Godaddy that this site offers, and that it got me back to the level of satisfaction I experienced when I first signed up with Godaddy. This was before I switched to Dreamhost. I figured I had to read the Godaddy review again now that I took my business elsewhere. The review had in fact changed, and is reflecting my opinion, apart from the part where it says their servers usually perform well.

My current host, Dreamhost, is not reviewed on webhostingchoice. Read here for more info.
